Firas returned my call that same day I contacted him and came to assess our home within a week. He helped us understand the structural issues occurring in our house, provided easy to understand explanations and answered all of our questions. He wrote a very succinct report about the issues and what needs to be done to correct them along with pictures for documentation. We now have better sense of what we need to do to deal with cracks above door openings and a deck that isn't up to code. Firas is a consummate professional and very personable.

I am trying to build a free-standing garage on my property in Pittsburgh, which has been a long and complicated process. I used this firm (and specifically worked with Firas Abdelahad) in order to get a stamped site plan drawn to be approved by the city zoning board, and I can honestly say working with Pittsburgh Design & Engineering Services is the only part of the process that was easy. Firas responded to my inquiry right away, unlike every other firm I contacted. He anticipated issues that the city would need. Once hired, he provided the plan in a very timely fashion, for the agreed upon fee. The electronic payment and contract were easy.

Everything was covered, from floor joist spans/spacing to foundation/basement wall status as well as the configuration/framing of the rafters. He explained what our options and solutions might be. After his in person review, he was extremely helpful and provided additional information regarding the installaiton of a few LVL's to sure up a load bearing wall that had not been properly supported when the home was built 60 years ago. As with many older homes, there are a number of issues that can pop up and we will 100% reach out again if we are in need of engineering services!

Firas evaluated a large retaining wall in a home we were considering buying. He went above and beyond to obtain the information and measurements he needed to give us the best report, hiking onto some uneven surfaces.
His reporting back to us was detailed and he spent a lot of time explaining and answering questions and answered multiple follow up texts and calls. He even advised us on the proper paperwork that we would want to collect to protect ourselves in the future.

Most importantly, Firas is HONEST ! I approached him about having permit drawings done, and to his own financial detriment, he informed me that the stamped drawings were not required for my project. I, therefore, cannot comment about the work that he performed, only about his character. He is, above all else, HONEST.
